A guy who worked as a wealth manager for a large investment bank decided to start making hats for bananas one day.
Sean Adler founded Nana Hats in 2019. Besides the fact that it’s hilarious, his products serve an actual purpose: keeping bananas fresh.
Adler’s crocheted hats come in all different forms: unicorns, pineapples, cheeseburgers, monkeys, cats and more. These hats are placed over a reusable silicone cap which the company also sells. Everything is $9.99.
Nana Hats quickly caught the attention of many people online, especially on TikTok, where Adler posts videos of his product. He also ran a successful Kickstarter campaign in 2020, raising over $4,000 from 148 backers. He started by selling his hats through his website and on Amazon, where feedback seemed to be positive.
In November 2022, Adler appeared on Shark Tank and once the sharks stopped laughing, scored a $150,000 investment from Lori Greiner and Peter Jones (they got 20% of the company in exchange).
