Mom Accidentally Invites All of Her Phone Contacts to Daughter's 1st Birthday Party

A 30-year-old mom accidentally invited 487 people to her daughter’s first birthday party, and now, Evite.com has one less bug.

Emily King, a San Jose, CA teacher whose actual guest list had 50 people on it, saw the “import contacts” button and thought that after importing them, she could sort through them. But no, this was a one and done, and the owner of every phone number she’s ever saved got the invite to her little girl’s Lord of the Rings party, King divulged in a now-viral TikTok video, which has been viewed more than 12 million times.

Not only that, but the automated invite addressed each one of those contacts as Emily had saved them, so people like “stank ass Debra” and “big nipple Scott” may have been included.

King also told Today.com that the invite was sent to about 70 of her students. It’s unclear how old these students are but I guess there’s a scenario where a teacher having 70 of their student’s phone numbers wouldn’t be completely insane.

“Emily’s journey inspired something we call the ‘Emily Hotfix’ that removes the ‘Select All’ function on iOS apps,” Evite’s senior director of brand marketing told Today.com. They also sent her a $250 DoorDash gift card.
