Earlier this week, a U.S. senator almost got into a fistfight with a union president during a senate meeting in D.C.

Markwayne Mullin (R-OK) is a former MMA fighter who’s had beef with Teamsters union president Sean O’Brien for a while now.

Talk of an official fight started up earlier this year in a heated exchange on Twitter (now X).

The gloves almost came off on Tuesday as Mullin read back O’Brien’s tweet, adding, “Sir, this is a time; this is a place. You want to run your mouth? We can be two consenting adults. We can finish it here.”

“Okay that’s fine, perfect,” O’Brien said.

“You want to do it now?” Mullin replied.

“I’d love to do it right now,” O’Brien said.

“Well stand your butt up then,” said Mullin.

“You stand your butt up,” said O’Brien, at which point the hulking senator stood his butt up amidst a bit of nervous laughter.

Thankfully, 82-year-old Bernie Sanders was there to diffuse the situation.

“No, you’re a United States senator, sit down please,” Sanders said forcefully through some testosterone-fueled backtalk. “This is a hearing, and God knows the American people have enough contempt for congress – let’s not make it worse.”

Then, the two boys started back at it again, forcing Sanders to bang the gavel.

“I don’t like thugs and bullies,” said Mullin. “I don’t like you, ’cause you just described yourself,” replied O’Brien, before an extended series of accusations and attacks.

After things cooled down, Mullin and O’Brien discussed the possibility of getting a cup of coffee together, which we think is adorable.
