An Amish family went shopping at a Walmart in Sturgis, Michigan, and came out to find their horse and buggy missing.

According to Sturgis police, the incident took place on January 20 at about 5:30 p.m. when “police were called to 1500 S. Centerville Rd.”

A truck driver saw a woman committing the act and gave her description to the cops. Police said they had contact with the same woman, 31, “earlier in the day at Walmart.” It’s unclear if that was for a separate incident.

“A Sturgis Police officer located the unoccupied buggy and horse in the 1200 Block of E. Chicago Rd later in the evening. Sturgis Police then contacted the female suspect in a nearby motel,” where she was arrested on charges of “arceny and larceny of livestock pending an arraignment. The horse was unharmed and the family had their buggy returned.”

“Her intrusive thoughts won,” wrote one Facebook commenter. “Aren’t horse thieves normally shot?” questioned another.
