Possum Hides in Christmas Tree, Woman Freaks Out

“I am literally freaking out right now,” said a Texas woman staring into the evil, beady eyes of her Christmas tree. “I have no idea how this possum got in my house and up into my tree, and I’m trying to get him out but he just won’t let me and I just don’t know what to do.”

Brett Ingram’s TikTok video shared earlier this month – ten days after she decorated her tree – has gotten over 6 million views.

She was first alarmed by the possum’s sneeze, which she assumed was just from one of her pets. She took a closer look and saw the possum’s tail.

“I saw a giant, breathing ball of gray fur, and his smell was horrible,” she told Houston-based Chron.com.

Ingram eventually reached out to a wildlife expert who told her to remove the possum using gloves, though the animal resisted which lead to a 30-minute struggle.

The Humane Society of the United States notes that possums can enter homes through pet doors and suggests gently nudging them with a broom to encourage them to leave, as they are usually not aggressive.
