Man Arrested for Firing Gun in Downtown Nashville to Celebrate Divorce

Craig Jose Miller was arrested Monday after firing a gun in downtown Nashville to celebrate his divorce, WKRN reports.

The 26-year-old man, who for some reason is also known as “Juan Jose Vasquez,” which is a completely different name, was apprehended with a buddy at about 6 a.m., initially denying that he was shooting the gun. According to WKRN, they also denied even hearing anything, which was probably a rookie move.

One witness told the police he saw Miller “waving a firearm around and shooting off two rounds in different directions.” Two other witnesses saw him shooting it as well.

Police found the gun in a nearby parking lot and Miller eventually admitted that he had just divorced his wife and to celebrate, he took a pal to a busy commercial area to discharge a weapon.

Cops said Miller was slurring his speech, and they also found a THC pen on him. His friend told police that Miller had “bomb-making material” in his backpack. It’s unclear if that’s true, but police conducted a search and determined that the backpack contained stolen items from a vehicle break-in which had taken place earlier. One of the stolen items was the gun.

While police were cuffing Miller, he reportedly kicked one of them in the stomach and said some not-so-nice things.

The divorcee was arrested on over a dozen charges including reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon, motor vehicle burglary, theft of a firearm, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and assault on a first responder.
