Has the robot takeover already started?

A Tesla engineer was savagely beaten by a malfunctioning robot at the company’s Austin, Texas headquarters. It happened in 2021, but reports have only surfaced very recently.

The machine, designed to move aluminum car parts, pinned the engineer and dug its metal claws into the unsuspecting man’s back and arms, “leaving a trail of blood along the floor,” the NY Post described in a recent report.

“After another worker hit an emergency stop button, the engineer maneuvered his way out of the robot’s grasp, falling a couple of feet down a chute designed to collect scrap aluminum and leaving a trail of blood behind him,” The Information reports.

At the time of the attack, the man was working on software designed to control the type of robot which attacked him …

The whole thing apparently happened because the robot was accidentally left on, while two of his robot brothers were disabled for maintenance. Don’t let them see what you’re doing, human!

The engineer suffered a hand injury but didn’t take any time off work. It’s not clear whose decision that was.

This is far from the first mishap at the Gigafactory in Austin, which opened in April 2022 after robot overlord Elon Musk decided to relocate from California. According to reports submitted by Tesla itself, 1 in 21 workers ended up getting hurt last year, compared to 1 in 30 in the automotive industry.

One worker’s ankle got pinned under a cart, causing him to miss 127 days of work. Another employee suffered a head injury, leading him to take 85 days off.

According to The Verge, at least one factory worker suffered a concussion after “getting launched back from an explosion in the metal casting area,” reportedly caused by a toxic concoction of raw materials. “A witness who saw surveillance video said the explosion sent a ball of fire and smoke into the air, damaged the die, and curled up a door that seals the chamber.”

Musk aims to have the factory producing 20 million cars per year by 2030.
